Homemade Hummus is SO EASY and QUICK to make! And it tastes 1000x better than the expensive stuff you get at the grocery store. All you need is a few ingredients and a food processor or a blender to make this healthy homemade hummus recipe with tahini.
Start by draining a can of chickpeas. Pour the chickpeas into a food processor or a blender, if you don’t own a food processor. Add three tablespoons of Tahini and blend on high for about thirty seconds until smooth. Tahini is ground sesame seeds and is essential to make hummus. You should be able to buy it at your local grocery store. We have found it at our local Wegmans and Harris Teeter.
After you blend the chickpeas and tahini (tahini is essential for this hummus recipe), add three tablespoons of olive oil, three tablespoons of water, 1 whole clove of garlic, 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt, 1/4 teaspoon of cracked black pepper, and the juice from one lemon.
Blend again in the food processor for about two minutes, or until the consistenty looks smooth. If you prefer a thinner hummus, add one more tablespoon of water.
That’s it! Super delicious and easy to make healthy homemade hummus. Serve this with naan, chips, pretzels, veggies, or just eat it with a spoon! We serve this recipe with our Middle Eastern Chicken Kabobs Recipe. Go ahead and make that too!
