Homemade Granola Recipe

Today we are going to share with you our incredible Homemade Granola Recipe that you can make in under an hour! Quit buying granola from the store. This is 1000x better tasting and uses way less sugar than anything you’ll find on a grocery store shelf.

It’s super easy to make as well! First, gather your ingredients. You will need.. 3 cups of old fashioned oats, 3/4 cup of sweetened coconut flakes, 1/2 cup of sliced almonds, 1/2 cup of pecans, 1/3 cup of packed light brown sugar, 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, 1/4 cup of maple syrup, 1 teaspoon of table salt, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 2 cups of golden (or regular) raisins.

The nice thing about this recipe is you can follow our instructions and tweak it to your liking. You can add more nuts or different dried fruit. If you don’t like using vanilla extract, you can substitute that for the zest of 1 lemon and the juice of 1/2 a lemon. This recipe will teach you how to make your own homemade granola recipe, whether you stick to our ingredients (which I highly recommend) or if you customize it to your own style!

To begin, preheat your oven to 350 degrees. In two separate bowls, you will mix together your dry and your wet ingredients. The dry ingredients include the old fashioned oats, sweetened coconut flakes, sliced almonds, pecans, and light brown sugar. The wet ingredients include the vegetable oil, maple syrup, table salt (yes it’s dry but this goes with the wet), and the vanilla extract.

After mixing together the dry and wet ingredients in separate bowls, combine the two bowls into one large bowl. Mix this thoroughly until all the dry and wet ingredients are well combined. When you see all of the dry ingredients coated, you are all set.

Pour the granola in one large or two small raised edge metal baking sheets and spread out to an even layer. Bake this in the oven for about 30 minutes, mixing every 15 minutes, until the granola is golden brown. Spoiler: your kitchen will smell INCREDIBLE at this point.

When the granola is beautifully golden brown (or GBD – golden brown and delicious), take it out of the oven. It may seem slightly wet when you take it out, but don’t fret, it will get crispy when it dries. As soon it the granola is finished, add the dried fruit (golden raisins in my recipe) to the granola and gently stir to combine. Flatten all of the granola tightly in a baking sheet. I use a cutting board to press it all down.
