Easy and Delicious Spaghetti

Spaghetti with meat sauce is one of those meals you need to have in your recipe vault. It’s a classic that pleases just about anyone in the family – especially kids! In my household, we make spaghetti with meat sauce about once a week. I always have the ingredients on hand and I can make it in under an hour. Plus, it makes for the tastiest leftovers!

For this recipe, you will need ground beef, crushed tomatoes, a yellow onion, fresh garlic, olive oil, garlic powder, black pepper, dried basil, dried oregano, dried thyme, kosher salt, sugar, and spaghetti noodles.

Start by grabbing a deep skillet that you have a lid for. Heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. When the skillet is hot, add the chopped yellow onion and chopped garlic cloves. Cook these for a few minutes until the garlic and onions are fragrant. Next, add the ground beef to skillet with the onions and garlic. Add 1/2 teaspoon each of kosher salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Brown the ground beef and break up into small pieces. Drain the grease from the skillet.

Next, add one 28-oz can of Cento crushed tomatoes. If you choose to use a different brand, this recipe may come out tasting different. Different brands and especially store brands all have different levels of sodium and different tastes. So you might end up adjusting your salt level at some point if you do not use Cento. In my opinion, Cento is the BEST! Stir the crushed tomatoes and add your spices. This includes: 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon sugar.

Bring sauce to a boil then turn to low to simmer. Mix well, and cover with a lid. Let this simmer for at least thirty minutes and up to two hours. Serve over spaghetti noodles and with garlic bread, OBVIOUSLY!

Thanks for reading and enjoy your spaghetti and meat sauce!
