Indulge your taste buds with the amazing flavors of our Creamy Sausage and Gnocchi recipe! This is a quick, easy one-pot meal that you can create in about thirty minutes.
A few things I love about this recipe…
- Its cooked in one dish. Oh how I wish all of my meals were made in one pot. The less cleanup, the better! I don’t think anyone would argue with me on that.
- It has the perfect amount of heat. The hot Italian sausage is the perfect meat for this creamy, cheesy dinner.
- I feel fancy using Gnocchi. 🙂
So…Here’s how to make it!
In a large pan, heat two tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add half a pound of hot Italian sausage to the pan and break it up into bite-sized pieces. Cook the sausage until it’s cooked through and lightly browned. Drain grease, remove the sausage from the pan, and transfer to a plate. Repeat this for the other half pound of the sausage.
In the same pan, turn the heat to medium. Add two more tablespoons of olive oil and one whole diced yellow onion. Add a pinch of salt and two tablespoons of water to the onions (the water will help deglaze the pan). Cook until the onions are softened. Add four cloves of minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon of fennel, 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano, and 1/4 teaspoon of dried basil. Mix together until fragrant – about thirty seconds.
Now that your kitchen will be smelling wonderful…
Add the cooked sausage back to the pan. Add in a 14.5-ounce can of diced tomatoes, 3/4 cup of heavy cream, and 1/4 cup of warm water. Pour in a one-pound package of gnocchi. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Now turn the heat to low and cover until the gnocchi is cooked through and tender (about five minutes). Just a few more steps until Creamy Sausage and Gnocchi is ready!
Remove the pan from the heat and add one cup of shredded mozzarella, 1/8 cup of shredded parmesan, and 1/2 cup of chopped flat-leaf parsley. Stir to combine.
To finish it off, top with 1/2 more of the shredded mozzarella cheese and broil on high in the oven until melted and lightly browned. You can skip this step if your pan is not oven-safe or you are simply too hungry to wait!
Lastly, top with a little parmesan cheese and eat up your Creamy Sausage and Gnocchi One Pot Meal!
